when put in drive it doesn't drive forward

This morning my car wouldn't move the steering locked so I shut it off and restarted it and it moved. Now My car suddenly just didn't wanna drive for ward, it reverses but when you put it in drive it doesn't go forward, what could be the problem with it?

Is the transmission fluid clean and full? Has the check engine light come on?

If the light is on, have the computer scanned to identify trouble codes. It should identify where the problem is coming from/
