When I accelerate I hear a slight ticking sound?

If you only hear it under acceleration, a common cause is an exhaust leak, usually where the exhaust pipe is bolted to the manifold. If the noise goes away after the engine is warmed up, it's because the metal parts have expanded and the leak is sealed. That type of leak is more of an annoyance and can change over time.
