When backing up or moving forward while my wheels are turned left I hear a loud thud come from somewhere between the middle or the right side of the car. It does not happen consistently but it seems to do it after backing out of a parking spot or turning into one a few times. Sometimes it is when I turn the wheel all the way and sometimes when it is slightly turned. Can someone help?

Hello,

This sound could be from the steering rack or tie rod.
This could be due to a loose bolts that keeps the steering gear in place or a defective tie rod.
Raise the vehicle and secure it on stands then do an inspection of the steering components. Including the steering rack and the tie rod ends.
Typically a loose or broken component will create the type of noise your are experiencing.

Make sure that the steering gear is bolted securely to the subframe. Also look for any worn out bushings or loose linkage.
