I had the traction and ABS lights on, code c1206 for rear left. These sensors come as a cap that goes on the bearing, common problem, some people say water gets in and damages the sensor or the bearing. Bought a cap sensor from amazon. Before I changed it the code would not delete, and lights would not go off, so it was shorted, I am sure. replaced it without removing the bearing, which was pain, son twisted the inner bearing metal ring on the inside, bent it back with a screwdriver, not sure if it affects anything. put it back and lights went off, but I was still not getting any speed using the scanner, still reads zero. Is it possible these aftermarket ones are no good? even if I bent the ring, am I not supposed to Get a speed reading at some point? I ordered a new whole hub assembly with the sensor. Using a probe, I was getting a ground from one pin, I tested the other wheel, and it was the same, one ground and one just reads .2 without indicating what it is, I guess it needed a signal while it was moving, but don't know how to do that. Same readings from the other wheel.

Hi,

I'm not sure I understand what was bent. If it was the toner ring / encoder (see pic below) that will prevent it from working. It isn't hard to cause damage to it when removing the cap. Check to see if that was deformed.

Let me know.

The a that might be it, hard to confirm with the colors on it. I tried to find a picture of one without the cap but couldn't. Ya that was it i think, but shouldn't it pick up some and slip some? It wasn't reading at all.

Hi,

The cap sensor is nothing more than a magnet that produces an electrical current when the wheel turns. If the toner ring isn't aligned (bent) or within tolerance from the magnet, it will likely not work.

I attached a different pic below (only one I could find) without the graphics on it. Take a look at it and let me know if you can see it better.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

If that is damaged, it needs to be replaced. That is where the speed is determined as I mentioned above.

Did you already get the new hub-bearing assembly? I attached some info below to help replace it if needed. Note: I skipped the 4wd directions so they were clearer to follow.

Let me know.
