DOC is correct, but he forgot to mention the tool you will need the most if you are in the rust belt. a big hammer to get the hub assembly out of the steering knuckle!
As for the tools needed. If you are not going to be working on things daily, one of the mechanics tool sets from places like Sears, Kobalt, even Harbor Freight will have the common hand tools covered. Then you need the large axle nut socket and breaker bar to fit it. Plus a torque wrench to put the axle nut back on. A common four way will handle the lug nuts. Plus a jack and at least one jack stand to support the car while you work on it.
A can of good penetrating oil like PBlaster or Kroil are also handy if you are looking at rusty parts.
