While I was driving it, it turned off. I was able to start it again and it continued this for a ways and then I had to have it towed back home. After being home for a few hours I went out and tried to start it, it started right up, sounded fine and stayed running for about 10 minutes then turned off again. What could be the problem?

Hello,

This sounds like the issue is a faulty crankshaft position sensor.
Over time all the heat and vibration from the engine and cause the crank sensor to lose calibration. This will make the sensor send error code to the ECM. Which can trigger the engine to shut down. It can happen at any random times.
This may or may not turn on the check engine light.
The crankshaft position sensor mounts to the engine block below the generator, just above the oil filter.

Here are couple of helpful articles:

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
