When I try to stop my front brakes do not stop immediately, what part do I need to buy to fix it?

When I try to stop my front brakes don't stop immediately. I have to start applying the brakes early to come to a complete stop. My back brakes are scrubbing when I first crank my car, but son stop.

Hi,

I'm not sure I understand. What happens to the rear brakes when first starting? Also, does the brake pedal feel soft and goes close to or to the floor?

If you can, take a few pics through the front wheels so I can see the brake rotors. Also, let me know how you determine the front wasn't working.

I need to get a good idea of exactly what is happening. Also, let me know if the steering wheel shakes when you apply the brakes and if you checked the brake fluid level.

I will watch for your response.

Take care,

Joe

No, the brake pedal is not soft but up to a high peak but does not stop quickly when applied brake pressure from me. That is why I felt the front brakes are not up to the right power of performance, I sometimes hear the back brake scrubbing when backing up from first cranking up from overnight. (The car listed above is an SE).

Hi,

That helps. As far as the rear brakes are concerned, this vehicle could have come with drum brakes or disc brakes. Do you know which you have? Have you inspected the rear brakes?

Also, does the brake pedal feel harder to push than you would expect, as though there is no power assist?

Trying to narrow things down a bit further. Also, let me know if you have taken a look at the brakes to inspect the braking material.

Take care,

Joe
