About to reinstall the intake manifold. There is a sensor on the top right of the intake that pops into a grommet which I have lost and I want to try to buy the grommet. Do you know what this sensor is? Temperature sensor maybe? This is a 335d diesel.

Hello,

This is the Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP).
The MAP sensor sends data to the ECM for it to control air fuel mixture.

You might have to purchase a new sensor as most of the time the grommet is not available by itself.

Let me know of any questions.
Thank you.

What does it do? If I just leave it hanging and start the car for now would I get a rough idle? I found the rubber piece online.

The MAP signals the ECM to help determine how much fuel to provide. So, it will likely run rough and trigger the check engine light.
