Is there any way to get it to stick back on the car? Should I use super glue? Well, whatever it is called, it came a little off. Either my car was like that when I bought it or it got like that when taking the wind deflectors off. It came a little off only on the driver side.

Can you get a picture of what you are referring too? Unfortunately, I am not sure what this would be but if we see it, I am sure we will figure it out. Thanks

Hello, I'm Danny.

Those are not aftermarket but yet the factory Toyota felt channels that seal the windows when closed. The are usually press fit into the body seam and stay in place. After being deformed or twisted out of shape they may not stay in place. If that happens you can use contact cement to keep it secured contact cement comes with a built in brush not make a mess. This is available at hardware stores, home improvement stores, and auto parts stores. Picture attached below. Just adding my 2 cents. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

You can and we can assist with that but those pictures are really helpful. Before we go through trying to replace them, they fold into the window like that because they get dried out and as the window comes up, it grabs it and folds it in. Try lubricating the felt channels with the attached type of lubricant. I attached a common type but the key is that it is a silicone spray and not a grease. Clearly you can spray this on the felt but try to keep it from getting all over. It will not damage anything but it will be difficult to clean up.

I should use the wd 40 and weldwood contact cement? Wd 40 to loosen it up and contact cement to reattach it?

Hello again.

Yes, WD40 or a silicone spray to lubricate the channels and contact cement to re-attach and keep in place. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.

You would use the silicone spray on a rag or cloth to wipe on the outside of the foam and then a light wipe on the edge of the lip where the glass slides past it. Then use a small amount of the cement to glue the seal back into position. Being this is an 04 those seals are likely very hard and stiff and trying to reform them may take some work. One thing that can help would be to use a hair drier or heat gun and warm the material up to make it easier to work with. Just don't hold the heat in one spot for a long time, you could damage the paint. Use the heat with the window down and work the felts like you were trying to form clay or play dough or similar, sort of smoothing it out and removing the folds. If you do that before using the silicone or glue you will have better success getting them to stay in place.

Actually can't I just use super glue instead of weldwood contact cement? What's the difference between using the contact cement?

The contact cement will bond better and stay flexible while super glue will soak in and not stick.. However if you get the piece straightened out and flexible it may stay in place without any glue.

Like I said, if you can get it warmed up so it goes back into position and then apply a bit of silicone it may stay on it's own. Usually what happens is the glass gets gummy from crud or tree sap or even things like soda, then it gets onto the seal. That causes things to start binding and then it gets to the point that it folds over.

I tried using a hair dryer, then Wd 40 right after. I let the Wd 40 sit for about 5 minutes. The felt channels are still stiff as before, and I am unable to pop them out.

You want silicone not WD 40. The silicone will soak in while WD40 will set on the surface. To get them soft usually takes quite a bit of heat. The other option would be to remove them from the channel and for them that way, but that can be a mess if you can't work on it for a couple hours then let it set with something to hold it in place for a while.

Hello again.

I agree with Steve W. I wouldn't use super glue or WD40. I would use the contact cement to re attach the felt and silicone spray to lubricate the channel. I would recommend CRC as a good silicone spray. I've attached a picture of what CRC silicone can looks like. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.

Is this what your can looks like? If so, it just twists off or does yours look like a paint can? If it looks like a paint can then you need to use a paint can opener or flat head screw driver.

Then you can apply it with a small paint brush to get it in the area that you want.

If this doesn't make sense, can you get a picture of your can?

Yep. That is what I thought. That opens just like a paint can. Flat head screw driver will work just fine.

Hello again,

Since you chose a large can you will need to buy an applicator brush. The small size jars come with a built in applicator unlike yours. It would be best to get a small paint brush like used on hobbies or models. I've attached a picture below. Just remember with this being glue after it dries the brush will not be useable anymore. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.

I tried fixing the issue, but it just made it a little worse. I ultimately decided that I am fine with how it looks and that it is not worth my time and money to try to "fix" it.
