What is the function of the AIR INTAKE HOSE

All cars except Chrysler products use a mass air flow sensor for their main fuel metering calculations. The fresh air tube directs incoming air flow through that sensor. There cannot be any loose hose clamps or other leaks in that hose. If any air sneaks in that does not go through the mass air flow sensor, it wont be measured and you wont get the needed fuel to go with it.

As for noises, there are many dozens of things that make noise. You have to provide some details or observations and clues, otherwise we have to guess as to what you are hearing.
