The bearing blew on my water pump and overheated. Got it towed to my house. Bought replacement pump installed and the truck is still over heading. I let the truck idle and get to temperature to allow truck to burp/bleed cooling system. And it is still overheating and making an odd bottom end sound. Kind of sounds like shaking a spray paint can.

Questions.

1. Is it possible that bearings from the bearing case in the water pump have gone into engine?

2. Proper way to burp/bleed system?

3. Could the thermostat have gotten defective due to the engine overheating?

Something I'm missing?

Hi,

As far as filling the cooling system, there is a bleeder that gets removed to allow air to escape while filling. Once coolant comes from the bleeder, it is reinstalled and the radiator is topped off. See pics below.

As far as the thermostat, it is unlikely that it failed as a result of overheating, but anything is possible.

If you can, record the noise you are hearing from the engine and upload it for me to hear.. Pay attention to where it seems loudest and let me know where that is.

Let me know.

Joe
