Water went into the exhaust

Please help. This is our only car. My husband drove into a puddle which apparently was deep enough to go into the exhaust what do we do?

If it only went into the tailpipe at the end it should be okay to start and run. It will get blown out unless the car does not run then disconnect pipe and drain water out. See if it will start then.
