Hi,

Replacing the water pump on this engine requires the removal of the timing chain, so it is somewhat involved.

If you look below, I attached the directions specific to this vehicle for pump replacement. Take a look through them and let me know if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe

Thanks Joe! Would you recommend dropping engine out the bottom to do this water pump remove and replace?

You shouldn't need to remove the engine. Remove the right front wheel and fender liner to gain access. If, however, you want to remove it, the subframe is removed and the engine and transmission are removed through the bottom of the vehicle. This is a big job.

Let me know.

Thank you, joe! I’ve always worked on diesel farm equipment! I was thinking about the best way to do this cause it’s a favor for someone that doesn’t have much cash! The shops around here quoted $2,500 to $3,300! Not sure if they see a woman walk in and tried to take advantage or if this is a good estimate.

Hi,

Believe it or not, it calls for 10.3 hours labor, but even at that, the price seems exceptionally high. I guess if the shop is charging 200.00 an hour, it would make sense, but that is crazy.

Exactly why these things are built this way is beyond my knowledge.
