I was wondering if you could buy a water pump pulley or if you had to buy a whole new water pump. I’ve asked several people and keep getting different answers and can’t seem to find just a water pump pulley anywhere.

Good morning,

The pump is serviced separately. The pulley is available by itself as well.

Due to the age, the pulley is no longer made.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain cooling system, then remove drive belt.
3. On models equipped with A/C, remove A/C compressor drive belt.
4. On all models, remove fan and water pump pulley.
5. Disconnect hoses from water pump.
6. Remove water pump attaching bolts and the water pump.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten water pump retaining bolts to specifications.

Note: All water pumps have a sealed bearing integral with the water pump shaft. The bearing requires no lubrication. A bleed hole in the pump housing allows water that may leak past the seal to be thrown out by the slinger. This is not a lubrication hole. If the pump is damaged and requires repair, replace it with a new pump or a rebuilt one.
