Hi, so I had my water pump replaced under warranty 2 years ago at 57,000 miles and now the dealer is telling me at 90,000 miles my water pump is leaking coolant again. Should I be concerned that there is a bigger problem since the car will now need another replacement in only 4 years after buying it brand new?
They will not cover the replacement and trying to charge $520.00. They said they aren’t sure why it’s happening. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Good morning,

A possible cause is belt tension. If the belt is too tight, it will put a lot of stress on the bearing and cause it to fail sooner than it should.

There is a tensioner to keep the belt tight but if it is locked up, it will cause this issue.

Hello,

That price seems a little bit high. But, if you would like to replace either or both of the water pumps on your vehicle I have included the instructions from the vehicle manufacturer for the inspection, removal and installation of both water pumps on your vehicle. I have also included an exploded diagram of all the components complete with callouts for both of the water pump systems for your vehicle. Also I have included the Original Equipment Manufacturer [OEM] parts numbers and prices for the water pump and gasket for you for reference in the diagrams down below. Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you are able to find out or how everything turns out.

Thanks,
Alex
