Welcome back:
You have a small EVAP leak. Basically, the EVAP (evaporative emissions system). The easiest way to determine the leak's location is to fog the system. Basically smoke is forced through the system and where the leak is, smoke will exit. With this type of leak, it is nearly impossible to locate the issue without doing this.
Here is thing. Most of the emissions related components on this vehicle should be covered by the manufacturer for 8 years or 80,000 miles. So, I would recommend taking it to a dealer. Some things are only 2 year 24,000, but I would try to get it covered. I copied the federal emission requirements for you to see.
2 years or 24,000 miles and
8 years or 80,000 miles for the
catalytic converter, vehicle/
powertrain control module,
transmission control module or
other on-board emissions
diagnostic device, including
emission-related software,
whichever comes first.
With the check engine light on, it won't pass emissions. Thus, you have an argument.
Let me know if I can help. By the way, if covered, there should be no deductible.
Take care,
Joe
