When an engine refuses to start, most often it is a fuel related issue or ignition related. Take a look through this link:

The easiest thing to do is see if it starts for a couple seconds using starting fluid. If it does, then we know if is a fuel related issue. If it doesn't, then chances are it is ignition related.
