VSS location

I'm trying to locate the vehicle speed sensor but having a hard time.

Hi,

The vehicle speed sensor is located near the starter motor. I attached a pic for you.

Here are the directions for replacement. Pic 2 correlates with the directions.

MANUAL
Remove or Disconnect

1. Negative (-) battery cable.

Vehicle Speed Sensor

See pic 2

2. Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) electrical connector from VSS.

3. One retaining bolt and VSS from trans-axle case.

Inspect

1. VSS driven gear for excessive wear or damage. Replace VSS as necessary.

Install or Connect

1. VSS into trans-axle case; secure with one bolt.

Tighten

Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) bolt to 11 Nm (97 lb. In.).

2. VSS electrical connector to VSS.

3. Negative (-) battery cable.

Tighten

Negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 Nm (11 lb. Ft.).

Hello, I'm Danny.

Here is the information you requested. The VSS is mounted on the trans-axle next to the starter motor CV axle. I've attached a picture below of its location. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

It may be blocked to see from the top by the transmission housing. Let us know if you have other questions.

I feel dumb right now, because i'm having such a problem finding it. I have watched videos, Googled pics.

That is what I would suggest. Note that it will be tight if you don't have it lifted. Keep in mind, the starter is on the left hand side rear of the engine, so the sensor is likely not visable from the top.
