Steering problem
2002 Volvo XC70 Engine Size unknown All Wheel Drive Automatic 60,000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Power steering pump went dry last week. fixed leak in resevoir hose and refilled resevoir. Noisy pump is quite now. Steering works as it should EXCEPT occasionally it takes two hands to turn right. Could a small piece of debris have gotten in the fluid and it occasionally blocks a small orifice in the steering mechanism? Can I flush the system? Help. Thanks, Dave

You can try flushing it, adn yes it sounds like a piece of debris or possibly a damaged seal from lack of lubrication. Did you use P/S fluid to refill and not trans fluid? I have had some luck adding a couple tablespoons of 30w motor oil to the P/S system to help free up sticky valves and seals.
