The "transmission service required" light recently went on on my car and i took it to the dealer the next day thinking i needed to have the transmission fluid flushed and replaced. There was no other indication of a problem.

The dealer indicated that the computer was giving off a code of "neutral control" and recommended a software upgrade and charged me $400.

I suspect i got ripped off but i am not sure.

Do you have any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks.
