2003 Volvo V70 car stalls when slowing down when cold

our volvo v70 runs badly when cold and often stalls when slowing down - the lights fade a bit at the same time. we have tried replacing the throttle monitor but this was no help - it runs perfectly well when warmed up

Couple of items to check
Have alternator checked and the tempeture sender for computer also thermostat this helps engine reach operating temp. quickly
