2002 Volvo V70 No Drive

WHEN THERE IS AN INTERNAL MECHANICAL FAILURE IN THE TRANSMISSION, THE TRANSMISSION WILL START TO DISPLAY SYMPTUMS AFTER GETTING HOT. ONCE THERE IS AN INTERNAL MECHANICAL FAILURE, THE REPAIR THROUGH A VOLVO DEALER IS REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY.

I take it it cannot therefore be anything to do with solenoids as there are 7 attached to gearbox also the ecu unit cannot cause this. also a blocked filter cannot cause this ether Just trying to rule out if there is not so drastic as have to replace gearbox. If I have to replace gearbox I was thinking of getting a second hand one.
if i went down that route what kind of mileage should I be trying to get obviously the lower the better but what would be reasonable. Regards Hugh

A SOLENOID MALFUNCTION COULD BE ONE OF THE PROBLEMS; HOWEVER, WITH THE AMOUNT OF MILES THE TRANSMISSION HAS, ITS BETTER TO SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY AND REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, THIS WAY YOU KNOW THAT ALL THE COMPONENTS ARE NEW. GETTING A USED TRANSMISSION IS ALWAYS UNEASY BECAUSE YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO GET. THERE IS A SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD THAT COULD BE DOWNLOADED IF IT HASN'T BEEN DONE YET TO THE MODULE. CHECK IF THE DOWNLOAD IS AVAILABLE FIRST BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING TO THE TRANSMISSION. DOWNLOAD PROCEDURE ONLY AVAILABLE AT A VOLVO DEALER, NOT AVAILABLE OUTSIDE.
