2000 Volvo V70 drive shaft removel

How do I remove the drive shafts from the car I have taken off the wish bone and raised the s spings to do this but have now got stuck and cant get the inner end of the shaft out of the engine?

Here's the trick shaft has lock ring holding it in. Get a BIG screwdriver or better prybar. Place between trans housing and Cv joint taking care of seal then pry out. Give it a good pop

Thanks that helps a lot is it the same for both sides as the other side looks like it is going into another shaft under the engine into the gear box.

On that side need to take bearing cap off pull on inner shaft see figure

am I right in thinking the non gear box side is a long shaft or would it come apart just outside the bearing on that shaft
