Brakes problem
1998 Volvo V70 135000 miles

The brake lights won't go off, which kills the battery. We have temporarily fixed by using a bungee cord under the brake pedal to the steering wheel while the car is not being driven, but now this isn't working all the time either. I would like to actually fix this rather than rigging it.

Hi bbelshaw,

On the brake pedal support there is a stopper for the brake switch. When this rubber stopper wears off or disintegrates due to age, the brake switch would be working full time.

If stopper is missing, replace it. If not check pedal to stopper clearance and adjust if necessary.
