2001 Volvo V40 cabin air flow fan

Fan comes on full speed at start up. No respnse to speed knob setting or to temp differential. Replacing dash panel control box no help. What are the possibles?

When the control module was replaced did you have software reloaded again? If not then you need to go t Volvo or an independent Volvo shop to have the software loaded tothe new module. Also another problem you can have is a bad blower motor resistor.

We tried a used control module. Would it need software re-loading? Closer look shows fan does respond to temp diff. If I set desired temp equal to temp display value, fan goes to low, so maybe I can live with that. Would the fan resistor still be a possible? Thank youso much for a quick reply, Charlie Farrell

If it is a used module then no you would not need software.
