I cannot get into reverse, it just keeps slipping into first gear. What possible problem is this and what diagnosis can I do?

Does it grind while trying to go into reverse? And what do you mean it slipsi nto first? It would probably be better if you took it in to a transmission specialist for proper diagnosis.
