1997 Volvo V40 can belt boke

My cam belt broke at a speed of around 55mph would it have done engine damage or could i get away with new belt

ahhh, you will never know untill you inspect it, did you hear any crazy noises when this happened? if not then you may have escaped with your engines life.

This particular model I am 100% you have bent the valves. You will need to have a valve job at minimum and also you will need to have the pistons inspected for any cracks or bent connecting rod. Sorry for the bad news :(
