I just had a problem with the heater fan motor on my S80. The car was in our driveway for about an hour when we went to leave. The heater motor was running at a very high speed even though the ignition was off and the key was not in the ignition. When the car was started the fan went back to the normal speed. When the ignition was turned off the fan stopped. The ambient temperature was in the upper 60's and the car was partially in the sun. What could be the cause of this proble?

I have the same issue with my volvo, this has happened several times when my car is parked for a while. Key is out and everything is off and the motor starts running. I have come to the conclusion that it is normal even though im not positive, it hasnt caused me problems so I have stopped worrying.

This is a normal feature called afterblow. It turns the blower fan on for a few minutes after car has been parked for a while to dry out the evaporator so that the a/c system does not become stinky. This is normal, don't be alarmed.
