Please inform me about repairs of the ETM. Dealer upgraded the software, but the check engine light has come back on. Recently, car went into limp-home mode. Dealer says that I need to replace mass air flow sensor. I would appreciate any advice. I don't want to be taken to the cleaners. Many thanks.

Was the software upgrade done because of a campaing? Also since the check engine light came back on what codes were scanned?

Thanks for responding. The upgrade was done because of a check engine light came on and there was a campaign to check/upgrade/replace ETM's if required. Check engine light stayed off a couple of weeks then came on again when car went into limp-home mode. New codes have not been scanned. Your thoughts? Is there a way to inspect or disconnect the ETM myself? Also the W mode indicator light is now flashing on the dash. W mode button is not engaged. Thanks for your advice.

You do not want to unplug the electronic throttle module or yur car wont be going anywhere? If the W is flashing then you could have a transmission problem and that could also put you in limp home mode. You should have some one that has the proper equipement to scan the codes for the engine and transmission control module.

Thank you JIS001. I have an appt. Next Tues. To scan the codes and get to the bottom of this. Do you have any advice about what specific questions I should ask the dealership's service writer? I only want to get the work done that I need. Thanks again.
