2005 Volvo S60 Spongy Brakes after changing pads

I recently changed the front brake pads, no complications, but now find that the brake pedal is spongier then it was previously, the brake systems was not open but I blead them anyway, but still find they are spongy, Its also making a "humming" noise when pressing the petal that it never made before.......?????Any ideas??? Help!!

did you change the rotors too? if the rotor is not refinished or replaced the new pad will not make full contact with the rotor causing a low brake pedal.
