I havea volvo s40 and the fule pressure is going from 20 psi to 60 psi. The shop that I brought it to suspects that it is the fuel regulator is this correct or could it be something else?

Is the CHECK ENGINE light on and if so are the codes related to a faulty fuel prssure signal? Also you may want to call Volvo and give them your VIN #, depending on what engine you have if you have a fuel pump module as well on your vehicle it may be covered under extended warranty. If it does have the extended warranty they would need to diagnose the problem first to determine if it is the cause of the problem you have. If you want to start with an inexpensive repair first and see if it corrects the problem then the fuel pressure regulator would be the route to go for now. Good luck and keep me posted.
