2004 Volvo S40 Thump thump thump sound from rear

I have replaced the tires, the rotors, the brake pads, placed the spare on each wheel to see if the sound goes away. It seems rotational but now I am getting very frustrated. I have been told that it could be the rear struts, strut bearings, wheel bearings. Do you have any suggestions?

Does thump go up with speed? change when breaking? change while in a turn? go away under hard acceleration? Assume have check trunk for bowling ball
