Recently my Volvo S40 (2000) has started 'puttering' when I accelerate. The 'puttering' is more of a jerking, but if I let off the gas and accelerate slowly it is okay. Also, when I'm accelerating up a hill the 'puttering' is extremely noticable and I almost have to stop the car. In addition, if the 'puttering' or jerking persists the "Check Engine" comes on and starts to blink until I let off the gas. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

sounds like a issue with the MAF sensor, scan it for codes and get back to me.

the problem is most probably one or more of your ignition coils its about a 50 $ part (for each) and its very easy to change have your computer scaned and if it tells you about a cylinder misfire than its 99 percent that its your ignition coil the cylinder misfire that it mentions the most times is probably the one you need to change
