2000 Volvo S40 how to change center console bulbs

You will need to remove the unit to to access the bulbs from behinde. Here are the instructions to remove the unit.

Make a note of the radio code.
Switch off the ignition.
Disconnect the battery ground lead.
Remove the radio.
Disconnect the connectors.
Remove the storage compartment in the center console.

Removing the front panel

1: Press up the catches behind the holes in the front panel.
2: At the same time pull the lower section of the panel towards you. (Use a weatherstrip tool.)
3: Press the whole panel upwards slightly. Pull it towards you from the top. (The controls remain on the heater control panel.).

Removing the control module

Remove the 3 screws.
Disconnect the connectors.

Removing the control panel.

Remove the 2 screws. Move the heater unit downwards at an angle.
Disconnect the green connector (GN).
Remove the air hose.
Remove the heater unit.

Install in reverse order.
