1994 Volvo 850-dashboard light is out(left side-gas guage and a couple others impossible to read when dark. Is there a non-pain in the rear way of changing them out? Please help.

There is a way. Not easy, but not too painful. Perhaps on this site, but I know in Volvospeed forum and Bay 13 there are complete instructions with pictures for removing your instrument/dashboard cluster.

You have to remove lots of hidden screws etc, then carefully lift up dashboard cover that sits over top of instrument cluster etc. Go slow, be careful not to crack or break dark plastic strip that runs along base of bottom of windshield on the inside.

Then follow Bay 13 instructions for removing instrument cluster.

With it out, take it inside, and then be patient as you have to remove lots of screws to disassemble the cluster.

Once you get it apart, you will see lots of mini lights (LEDs?) Soldered to the instrument cluster circuit board. Or they may be plug in type.

Can't remember if lights run on 6 or 12 volts, but you can probably find similar lights at Radio Shack to replace burned out ones.

Hope this helps
