1996 Volvo 850 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 100K+ miles

Was this car equipped by factory with a replaceable cabin air filter? (It's a 5 cylinder.)

it was an option so if it is equipped with the cabin filter it will be located under the hood on the passenger side of the air intake plenum.
