1994 Volvo 850 flywheel

My car has issues with stopping for no reason. I was told that the flywheel is scarred and the crank sensor is getting a false reading. they say the flywheel needs to be replaced but I am trying to get some information about this. Can you help?

Did you check/test the crank sensor?
