I noticed that the car was resisting shifting at 30mph. Then I noticed that it would not shift over 50mph. It is resisting going over 60mph and the won't go past 2.5 to 3.0, which is where it sits at 70mph.

I checked the cold engine this morning and oil was down a quart-I added. Then went to the Transmission Fluid. It was THICK and Globby and way past the Max mark.

The car was sitting for two years and I've had it on the road now for a few months. Three years ago I had my mechanic flush the trans, new filter, and new fluid.

Please help with answer as soon as you can. I'd like to keep her going for another year-I've had her for eight now and taken very good care of her.

Sincerely,
Ann

Check the radiator for signs of the same condition, the transmission cooling tank may have cracked and is leaking into the cooling system, unfortunately anti freeze and clutch material in the tranny arent going to get along, the tranny may need rebuilding at this point.

Thank you Merlin.

The Volvo is an AUTOMATIC. Would this statment still hold true? "Anti freeze and clutch material in the tranny"
