1992 Volvo 240 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have engine codes 231 & 221 which indicate a lean fuel condition. Can you give me any causes of a lean fuel condition? Thank You

Most likely there is a exhaust leak before the sensor, or there is a vaccum leak after the MAF sensor or a failing maf sensor.

A o2 sensor that is bad could cause this also, but are a bit more expensive to check then the ones I listed above.
