I Wold like to know estimated shop times for taking the cylinder heads off a volkswagon engine for inspections. The left side cylinder head
was removed at a cost of $399.80 plus tax including the measurements of the cylinder head to see if it was salvageable and side cylinder head was taken off for a final inspection and at a cost of $249.88 plus tax.

This is over close to seven hours shop labour, yet no repair work was done, engng was not reassembled and no parts were purchsed. My feelings are this bill should be about a 1/2 hour to and hour labour each side or about two hours labour total.

What does the shop repair guide say

the Mitchell 1 OnDemand manual states, 10.6hr both sides, remove and install, so to remove I would say less them 1/2 the time, I can remove a Vanagon head in 20min.
