I have a volkswagen van that has not been run in several years. It was in good mechanical condition prior to storage. I am in the process of getting it running for summer and would like to know what minimum maintenance you recommend prior to firing her up? Thanks for your assistance.

To start off with is remove the air cleaner and check around for any nests. When just about anything sits for a while mice build nests. If any remove the nests and clean out then check any wiring in that area. They like to nibble on wires to use the wiring covering for nests. Check the oil and recharge the battery. If the van had sat for several years remove the gas cap and smell the gas. Over time gas does go bad and will smell when bad. You may have to change the fuel filter. Add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank help clean out the fuel system. Once you have it running I suggest getting a oil change and a lube job done.
