My engine just started a regular thumping noise that cycles, about the speed of a slow heartbeat. Seems to occur when I have my foot on the gas pedal, but does not seem to be affected by pressing down or easing off of the clutch. I am noticing it when the car is in motion. I have not tried to press on the gas in neutral to see if the noise is still present. Would this be the symptom for a slipping clutch, for this is a comon problem with these models, or is it something else?
