2005 Volkswagen TDI Automatic 125000 miles

2005 Jetta TDI. Warning light for the batter came on Saturday. Sunday morning the air conditioning stopped working and an emissions warning light came on. Sunday evening the a/c unit did not even blow hot air. Monday morning several warning lights came on (ABS, Power Steering, etc.) Just before the engine died. Dashboard lights dimmed. Attempted to jump the car, which brought power back (dashboard lights returned to normal, power windows started to work), but the engine would not start. The starter sounded like it was engaging (rapid ticking) but the car did not turn over.

Obviously you have a bad alternator, but you didn't listen to your first warning "Warning light for the batter came on Saturday." Now you have ran the battery dead and the car will not start, and unless you have set diesel jumper cables which I'm sure you don't you will never get it started, remove your battery and your alternator, get the battery charged replace your alternator and you should have no more problems.
