1993 Volkswagen Polo knocking after exhaust change

Hello.
I am getting a loud knocking sound from underneath someplace. since my car is old, i can also actually feel it. yesterday i changed my full exhaust pipe (inc calalyzer) - which was done properly. drove around for an hour in the sun, and all was perfect. today it started raining heavily and the thuds started. i get one every 5 minutes or so, and usually at very low speeds.
do you have any suggestions?
