When I turn I hear noises, sounds like bearings. But when I went to pull on the tires back and forth I get no clunking noises. Is this a costly repair? Could it be CV Joints and boots and such?

Raise the vehicle. From under the car, inspect the inner and the out boots on the axle shaft. If any of them is torn, replace the axle shaft.
