I have a small puncture wound to my oil pan. I'm wondering if there is a sealant I can purchase that will get my car home (5 miles) safely so I can work on it. Also. I know next to nothing about cars, but the pan seems pretty easy to replace. Is this something an amateur can take on?

Hi, Try to keep It full of Oil, Till You get home. If it's leaking To bad then have It towed home. No Sealant Will Hold On The Oil Pan. To Do The job Is Fairly easy, Remove the Skid plate, If it has one Remove All the oil from The oil Pan. Remove All the bolts From the Pan, Tap On the Pan With a rubber mallet To loosen The Silicone seal. Clean The Block Surface good With a Putty knife, Remove all The silicone. Put Fresh Silicone on The New oil pan And Bolt Back up. Do not Overtighten The small bolts. Use A Quarter Inch Rachet And Socket To tighten them. Get The Pan And silicone from VW, Not Too Expensive.

Hope This Helps you,
Good luck
