2001 Volkswagen Passat Oil in coolant overlflow

Hi, I was wondering what to do..I have oil mixing in with the coolant in my overflow. I have been told I need to replace my oil cooler, but ya think it could just be the seal? Is there any other possiblities of what it could be? Thanks!

oil cooler for sure
you can try and replace the seals and gasket 1st but I would recommend replacing the cooler and all
