1999 Volkswagen Passat Stalling; bad smell; ABS not functio

When I start my vw 199 passat, it stalls and there is a bad smell coming inside. Also, when driving it for more than 20 min. it the console displaying drive;park;reverse etc. goes black in the background and the car has no power;slows down. I have to pull over let it cool down and start it again. My ABS is not working properly, and when I stop makes a thumping noise.; while wobbling some.

Probabaly two seperate problems, wobble with ABS light on could be a hub bearing up front, check both by jacking it up, shaking the wheels, if any play is noticed, replace all faulty parts. Other problem sounds like a clogged catalytic converter. Have the codes read, post all that are found.
