I took my car get it checked out and the mechanic was never able to find the problem with the car other than the rack and pinion was broke. The car begins to shake when I slow down or break, it runs smooth at a high speed . Also when braking there is a ticking noise. Please help!!!

Can you feel this in the brake pedal and the steering? if so have the brake rotors machined first. start here.
