Where is the Thermostat

My sister has a 2001 Volkswagen Passat V6 30V 64724K miles. I would like to know if you could help me on the search for this Thermostat. If it's on the water pump could you give me a couple pointers on ow to replace it.. thank you so much.

There's special procedures and tool required to remove it . Best bet bring it in.
